Who Is Amotti from Physical: Asia? All About Former South Korean CrossFit Athlete

Kim Jae-hong, better known as Amotti, has etched his name in South Korea’s fitness history by clinching the championship title of Physical: 100 Season 2.

When the show kicked off, Amotti was already a familiar face to many of the contestants. As a renowned CrossFit YouTuber with a massive online following, his reputation in the fitness community preceded him. His journey into CrossFit began after fulfilling his mandatory military service, where his dedication soon translated into professional competition.

On the international stage, Amotti made notable marks—ranking 24th in the Asian men’s division in 2018 and 727th globally in 2020. The year before joining Physical: 100, he even competed in a bodybuilding contest titled Show Me Your Body, showcasing his versatility as an athlete.

Across nine punishing episodes filled with physical endurance and mental strength, Amotti steadily emerged as the strongest contender. The series opened with 100 participants, including Olympians, bodybuilders, fitness trainers, and everyday athletes, but Amotti’s presence was commanding from the start.

In the finale, the last four standing were Amotti, rugby player Andre Jin, Physical: 100 Season 1 returnee Hong Beom-seok, and actor Justin Harvey. The final showdown tested them through three grueling rounds: holding their own torso busts aloft, enduring the “Infinite Squats” challenge with up to 250 pounds of added weight, and a decisive pole-push battle. Amotti ultimately triumphed over Hong Beom-seok in the final round, securing the champion’s title along with prize money of approximately ₩300 million (around US $220,000).

Before his television fame, Amotti had already built a significant platform as a CrossFit YouTuber with over 304,000 subscribers and was recognized among South Korea’s top men’s CrossFit athletes in 2020.

Born Kim Jae-hong, Amotti’s rise to prominence was far from instant. His commitment to CrossFit began post-military service, and by 2020, he had reached the 6th position in South Korea’s men’s division.

However, January 2021 brought a life-altering accident. While riding his scooter to the gym, a car door suddenly opened, trapping his ankle. The subsequent surgery lasted 10 hours, and doctors warned that he might never walk again—let alone return to training.

Instead of giving up, Amotti transformed his long recovery into a period of physical and mental rebuilding. He later reflected that the near loss of his athletic dream reignited his drive, making his eventual victory even more meaningful.

Community, Mentorship, and Personal Life

Amotti often trains at Sweat On Seoul, a gym frequented by other fitness influencers, athletes, and reality show personalities. Among his close circle is Physical: 100 Season 1 semi-finalist Yun Sung-bin, who advised him before the competition:

“Get rest when you can. Don’t hurt yourself.”

Following his victory, Amotti reportedly shared a portion of his prize money with fellow contestants and purchased new equipment for his friends—a gesture reflecting his sense of camaraderie.

Off the field, Amotti’s romantic life has also drawn quiet attention. Though he values privacy, fans believe he is either married or soon to be, as his girlfriend has posted wedding-style photos on Instagram and included them in her Highlights. Amotti’s affectionate comments on her posts further hint at a strong and loving relationship.
