Who Is Scott Adams’ Wife? Inside Dilbert Creator’s Family Life as Trump Responds to His Plea for Cancer Treatment

03 November, 2025 16:22

American cartoonist Scott Adams, widely recognized as the creator of the comic strip Dilbert, has appealed directly to U.S. President Donald Trump for assistance in expediting his cancer treatment. Months after being diagnosed with metastasized prostate cancer, Adams stated that he would request the President’s intervention to prompt his healthcare provider, Kaiser Northern California, to schedule his therapy.

Adams revealed that Kaiser Northern California had already approved his use of Pluvicto, a recently FDA-approved medication. However, he claimed the institution had yet to arrange the “brief IV to administer” the treatment, leaving him unable to proceed.

“I am declining fast,” he wrote. “I will ask President Trump if he can get Kaiser of Northern California to respond and schedule it for Monday. That will give me a fighting chance to stick around on this planet a little bit longer. It is not a cure, but it does give good results to many people.”

President Donald Trump replied to the plea in a short post on Truth Social, simply stating, “On it.”

Personal Life and Marriages

Beyond his health challenges, Adams has been married twice. He wed Shelly Miles in 2006 aboard a yacht on San Francisco Bay. At the time, Adams was 49 and became stepfather to her two children, one of whom later died in 2018 from a drug overdose.

In a 2006 interview with the East Bay Times, Adams recalled meeting Shelly at ClubSport in Pleasanton, noting, “She was working and I was working out.” He later hired her for administrative work before their eventual divorce in 2014.

Reflecting on their separation in a Psychology Today blog post, Adams wrote, “She moved only a block away and we remain best friends. The problem was never our feelings for each other but rather the restrictions of blending two sets of preferences.”

According to Distractify, Adams later married Kristina Basham, who describes herself on Instagram as a pianist, violinist, future neurologist, aerobatic pilot, commercial pilot, and flight instructor. The couple divorced in 2022.

Adams publicly confirmed the split in a March 2022 episode of his podcast, Real Coffee with Scott Adams:
“I am separated, slash going through a divorce. The only reason I’m telling you that is if you see my ex-wife on a date or me, don’t worry about it because it’s a process that’s been going on for some time. So if you see either of us out in public, you don’t have to alert the media. We’ve moved on, so it was a tough pandemic for some of us. I’m not looking for any sympathy, please.”

At present, there is no public indication that Adams is in another relationship or has remarried.

Political and Public Figures React

Following Adams’ appeal, several notable figures responded alongside President Trump. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy commented, “Scott. How do I reach you? The President wants to help.”

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Scavino Jr. and Donald Trump Jr. also expressed support.
Trump Jr. wrote, “Going to make sure that my dad sees this. We’re all praying for you, keep fighting! CC @aboutKP.”

Meanwhile, Scavino added, “No need till [to] wait until Monday— @realDonaldTrump, @RobertKennedyJr, and @DrOz are all tracking now, Scott.”
