Who is Mohammed Abdul Shoaib? Lone Survivor of Saudi Arabia Bus Crash Battles for Life

A tragic bus accident near Madinah, Saudi Arabia, claimed the lives of 45 Indian Umrah pilgrims from Hyderabad. Among 46 passengers, Mohammed Abdul Shoaib was the only survivor.

Who is Mohammed Abdul Shoaib?

Shoaib, 24, had been travelling with seven members of his in-laws’ family. According to his cousin, he managed to jump out of the bus along with the driver just moments after the crash. The accident occurred when the bus collided with a diesel tanker about 25 km from Madinah, causing an explosion that engulfed the vehicle.

Tragically, Shoaib lost both his parents, Mohammed Khadeer and Ghousiya Begum, in the crash. His brother, Mohammed Abdul Sameer, who had been in Makkah, immediately arranged to travel to Saudi Arabia to support him. Shoaib reportedly called his brother from the hospital to recount how he survived the horrifying accident.

Shoaib is receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Madinah under close supervision. Fahad Ahmed Khan Suri, the Consul General of India in Jeddah, visited him and confirmed he is receiving the best possible medical care. The hospital has reported that Shoaib has severe burn injuries but is stable.

Most of the victims were from areas of Hyderabad such as Asif Nagar, Mehdipatnam, Vidyanagar, and Toli Chowki. The pilgrims had travelled through Al Meena Tours and Travels and Flyzone Tours and Travels. Families have begun arranging last rites in Saudi Arabia, with the Telangana government helping two members from each deceased family travel for the ceremonies.

Following the tragedy, the Indian Consulate in Jeddah established a 24×7 control room for affected families. Toll-free and WhatsApp numbers were provided for immediate assistance. The consulate extended its deepest condolences and coordinated with Saudi authorities and Umrah operators to support the families.

Mohammed Abdul Shoaib’s survival story has brought both relief and grief to his family. While they mourn the loss of 45 loved ones, they are also praying for Shoaib’s speedy recovery and hope he can return home soon.
