Burqa-clad women barred from entering Delhi café

Problems for Muslims living in India continue to increase as another Islamophobic and discrimination case has emerged in the country’s capital.

The shameful incident occurred when a café in the capital denied entry to Muslims women wearing hijabs. The only crime of the women was their hijabs that was disliked by management of the Marbia Café in Friends Colony near Jamia Millia Islamia University. The women were intercepted at the reception of the café and were told to leave the premises due to their Muslims body covering.

One of the women told media that the receptionist stopped them asking if they had a reservation to which they replied they didn’t but will reserve a table right now. The lady reception then blatantly told the women that burqas are not allowed on the café premises. The Muslim women shocked at the reply of the reception and left the café without arguing with her.

Earlier on Wednesday, two foreign female tourists destroyed pro-Palestine boards in Kochi city of Kerala state, Indian media reported.

The video of the incident show the foreigners were arguing with the locals over the posters, saying it was “insulting” to the Jewish people.

The incident took place on April 15 and now a case has been registered against the two tourists, the Fort Kochi police said.

The chip shows that they were standing on the pavement with pieces of pro-Palestine boards scattered around them.

A local can be heard arguing with one of them, saying “You have destroyed this property”. She was asked to clear the littered pieces.

In response the women said “I did it for the Jewish people. You are promoting propaganda and lies.”

The locals then told her that if she had any issues with the banners, she should have complained about it instead of tearing them down. To this, the woman said, “But they will not take it down. This is promoting sectarianism.”

A man can then be heard saying, “There are Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, everybody. We are living in India.”

The foreigner replied, “Jewish people are not here anymore. You guys make money off Jewish people, but there are no Jews here.”
