Massie surge in petrol prices on cards in July

The government is considering another substantial surge in petroleum product prices in the month of July.
The inflation hit consumers may face an additional blow due to the impending increase in petrol prices for the latter half of July 2024.
The per liter price of petrol is expected to go up by approximately Rs7.68, while Rs3.72 per liter increase in diesel price is on cards from July 16.
The price increase will be effective for the next 15 days, starting from July 16.
After implementation, the per liter price of petrol will become Rs273.29 and the price of diesel will become Rs281.17 per liter.
The government had previously increased the price of petrol by Rs7.45 per liter from July 1 to July 15.
