NLC launches cargo transport from China to UAE via Pakistan

The National Logistics Corporation (NLC) has introduced its first-ever cargo transport service from China to the United Arab Emirates through Pakistan under the International Road Transport (TIR) system.
The first shipment comprised electronic goods and departed from Kashgar, China, and is en route to Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port. This service will shorten the transportation duration to just 10 days from 30 days typically required for sea routes.
The journey’s first leg concluded at the NLC Dry Port in Sost, Gilgit-Baltistan. A ceremonial event was held at Sost to mark the occasion.
The Gilgit-Baltistan government senior officials, customs authorities and the business community attended the event.
The new route leverages Pakistan’s geographical location as a bridge between Gulf states and China providing a shorter, more efficient alternative to traditional maritime channels.
NLC’s vehicles will cover the Kashgar-to-Karachi leg in 8 days, with containers shipped onward to Dubai in two days by sea.
This new initiative is a strategic step in operationalizing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It will also reinforce the Khunjerab Pass as a year-round trade gateway.
The new service is being lauded for reducing logistics costs and transit times, which will benefit exporters and importers by opening new trade opportunities.
