Petrol price may go up from Jan 1

Petroleum prices are expected to increase at the start of the new year, with diesel prices likely to witness a hike of over Rs4 per litre.

Sources within the Petroleum Division had disclosed that while petrol prices might remain unchanged, the rate of kerosene oil may rise by Rs1 per litre.

The final decision on the matter will be made on December 31, after consultations between the finance minister and prime minister.

The sources added that the adjustment in petroleum prices will be made public after the prime minister’s approval.

Earliern On December 15, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s  government had announced revised petrol and diesel prices for the upcoming fortnight.

Petrol prices remain unchanged at Rs252.10 per litre. However, high-speed diesel has registered a cut of Rs3.05 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs255.38 per litre.
