Gold price falls from record high amid global decline

08 February, 2025 20:02

Gold prices in Pakistan fell on Saturday following a record high the previous day, reflecting a broader drop in international gold rates.

The price of gold per tola in the local market decreased by Rs1,046, settling at Rs299,000. Similarly, the price of 10-gram gold dropped by Rs897 to Rs256,344, according to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA).

This dip comes after a dramatic rise on Friday, when gold hit an unprecedented Rs300,046 per tola due to concerns surrounding global trade tensions.

The international price of gold also fell by $8, to $2,861 per ounce, as reported by APGJSA.

The rise in gold prices in recent weeks had been fueled by fears of a trade war and its potential to harm the global economy.

US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on imports from China, Mexico, and Canada has spurred these concerns, driving investors toward gold as a safe-haven asset.

In addition, silver prices also dropped by Rs48, reaching Rs3,330 per tola, reflecting a broader trend in the precious metals market.
