Pakistan gets ownership of basmati rice from India in Australia, NZ

Pakistan achieved great success internationally in acquiring the ownership of Basmati rice.
Internationally, basmati rice has been declared as the property of Pakistan and New Zealand, Australia has accepted the cereal grain as a Pakistani product.
On the other hand, the competition between Pakistan and India is going on in the European Union and the European Union is also expected to decide in favour of Pakistan.
Since independence, Pakistan and India disputed over who had the best basmati, and who had rightful claim to the name.
Pakistani farmers claimed that during the 1965 Indo-Pakistani war Indian soldiers had stolen their seeds.
India’s global efforts to enshrine its ownership of basmati have failed.
While the Indian case is pending in the EU, New Zealand and Australia have rejected similar legal claims.
