Global oil prices fall - will Pakistan reduce petrol rates on June 1?
Good news for people in Pakistan – petrol prices will likely go down a lot! This is because oil prices in the international market have fallen.
The government will announce new petrol prices tonight for the last fortnight of April 2025. OGRA (Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority) has sent a summary suggesting a price decrease amidst falling oil rates worldwide at present. Presently, Brent crude oil is being sold for $65 a barrel on April 15.
OGRA’s Suggestions
According to reports, OGRA has suggested:
- Petrol price should go down by Rs8.27 per litre
- High-speed diesel by Rs6.96 per litre
- Light diesel by Rs7.21 per litre
- Kerosene oil by Rs7.21 per litre
Expected Petrol Price from April 16
If approved, the new petrol price will be Rs246.36 per litre from April 16 to April 30. Diesel may be cut to Rs251.68 per litre. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will make the ultimate decision after consulting with his team.
Current Petrol Prices in Pakistan
Currently, petrol is priced at Rs256.13 per litre and high-speed diesel is Rs258.64 per litre in Pakistan. The PM also recently offered relief on electricity bills, announcing Rs7.41 per unit less for homes and Rs7.69 per unit for industries.
