Naan and Chapati new prices notified in Karachi

In a move to combat rising food costs, the Karachi Commissioner’s Office has issued standardized rates for naan and chapati, effective immediately. The new pricing structure is as follows:

• Chapati (100g): Rs. 10
• Naan (120g): Rs. 15
• Large Naan (150g): Rs. 17
• Extra Large Naan (180g): Rs. 22

Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has mandated that all bakeries must display these prices prominently, warning that overcharging will result in legal action. A dedicated control room has been set up to monitor compliance, and citizens are urged to report violations.

Wheat Flour Prices Also Reduced

The announcement follows a recent reduction in wheat flour (atta) prices:

• Fine wheat flour (wholesale): Rs. 78/kg (previously higher)
• Fine wheat flour (retail): Rs. 90/kg
• Chakki flour: Reduced by Rs. 10, now fixed at Rs. 90/kg
