InDrive slammed over rising driver misconduct reports
InDrive is facing strong criticism after a series of disturbing incidents raised serious concerns about the safety of its passengers, especially women, and the way the company handles such complaints.
On July 8, 2025, a woman hired an InDrive Cargo Bike to pick up clothes worth Rs. 80,000 from her tailor in Islamabad’s I-13 area. After collecting the clothes, the driver suddenly turned off his phone and disappeared.
The woman contacted InDrive support, but they only said they would block the driver’s account. She called this response careless and unacceptable.
The next day, she went to InDrive’s office in Islamabad but was only given a form that required police verification to continue. She then went to the I-13 police station. The police took action quickly and sent a formal request to InDrive. However, she said the company shared very little information and refused to help further due to “internal policies.”
In another shocking case earlier this week, a video went viral showing an InDrive driver named Bilal allegedly doing an indecent act in front of a female passenger.
Reports claim that Bilal had been accused of similar acts before, like exposing himself and following women after rides. One woman even said Bilal followed her from Islamabad’s I-8 sector after dropping her off.
These repeated incidents have made many women feel unsafe using ride-hailing apps. Social media users are now asking for better safety checks, proper background verification of drivers, and strict rules to hold such companies accountable.
After public pressure, InDrive posted an apology on its official account. The statement said, “We sincerely apologize for this incident. We have permanently removed the driver and are working closely with the police. Our insurance policy has been activated to support the customer. We treat such cases with zero tolerance and remain committed to safety.”
