SBP launches new plan for BISP Sahulat Accounts

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced a revised framework for the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Sahulat Accounts. This new system aims to make it easier to transfer financial assistance directly into the bank accounts of BISP beneficiaries.

The updated plan will first be tested in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar, Muzaffargarh, Muzaffarabad, and Gilgit. Once the pilot phase is successful, it will be expanded across the country.

How will it work?

• Account Opening: BISP will securely send beneficiary details (like name, CNIC, and address) to the banks after verifying them through NADRA.

• Screening: Banks will check the details against security lists before opening accounts.

• Account Activation: Beneficiaries will visit their designated bank branches with their CNIC for biometric verification to activate their accounts. If biometric verification fails, banks will use NADRA Verisys for confirmation.

• Notifications: BISP will launch an SMS service and web portal where beneficiaries can check their bank details and visit dates.

• Cheque Books & Debit Cards: Once accounts are active, banks will provide cheque books or PayPak debit cards for cash withdrawals.

How will beneficiaries get money?

• Funds will be transferred directly into their accounts.

• Beneficiaries can withdraw money using cheques, debit cards, or ATMs with biometric verification.

• There will be no extra charges for ATM withdrawals.

Support for Beneficiaries

Banks will set up helpdesks and 24/7 customer support to assist BISP beneficiaries. Staff will also get special training to make the process smooth and easy.

This new framework is designed to ensure secure, fast, and transparent delivery of financial support to millions of families under the BISP program.
