How Much Taxes Are Pakistanis Really Paying on Petrol and Diesel?
ISLAMABAD, August 14, 2025: The federal government is expected to increase petrol prices for the next fortnight starting August 16 as part of its regular fuel price adjustment.
Sources said petrol may become costlier by Rs1.32 per litre, while diesel, kerosene, and light diesel oil are likely to see price cuts.
Expected Changes in Fuel Prices
Petrol: + Rs1.32 per litre
High-Speed Diesel: – Rs11.75 per litre
Kerosene Oil: – Rs6.25 per litre
Light Diesel Oil: – Rs7.11 per litre
According to initial calculations, the reduction in prices for certain petroleum products has already been worked out. A summary will be sent to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for final approval.
The Ministry of Petroleum, in coordination with the Ministry of Finance, will forward the proposal to the prime minister. The approved prices will take effect from August 16, 2025.
