Crypto Markets Crash With $900M Liquidations as Bitcoin Falls

27 August, 2025 10:57

The crypto market faced one of its worst weekends of the year. A massive sell-off caused liquidations worth more than $900 million. Bitcoin, which had been moving towards $117,000 last week, fell sharply after a whale sold 24,000 BTC in a single move.

Traders Face Sudden Losses

This sale shook the entire market. Over 200,000 traders saw their leveraged positions wiped out. Bitcoin’s rally quickly turned into a collapse. Options traders rushed to buy downside protection as fear spread across exchanges.

Bitcoin and Ethereum Lose Momentum

Bitcoin, which had touched a high of $124,000, slipped to nearly $110,000. At the time of writing, it trades at around $111,568. In Pakistani Rupees, that equals about 3.16 crores, down from its peak of 3.51 crores.

Ethereum also faced the heat. After hitting fresh highs last week, it is now struggling to stay above the $4,300–$4,400 range. If selling pressure continues, analysts warn it could revisit $4,000.

Market Volatility Surges

Volatility numbers jumped sharply. Bitcoin’s daily volatility rose from 15% to 38%. Ethereum’s surged from 41% to 70%. These figures show how quickly optimism can turn into panic in the crypto world.

Analysts Warn of More Pain

Experts believe Bitcoin must hold above $110,000. If not, the next support levels are at $103,700 and $100,800. Traders are now focusing on risk management as the market faces uncertain weeks ahead.

Institutional Buyers Step In

Despite the chaos, some big players are quietly buying. MicroStrategy invested $357 million to add 3,081 BTC to its reserves. Ethereum also gained attention as spot ETFs saw $444 million in inflows, showing growing institutional interest.

A Reminder for Traders

This crash highlights how fragile the market remains. Leverage can amplify profits, but it also multiplies risks. For many retail traders, the weekend became a costly lesson.
