Gold prices in Pakistan hit record Rs400,000 per tola
Gold prices in Pakistan have touched an all-time high, with 24-karat gold reaching Rs400,000 per tola for the first time ever, according to local reports. The surge follows a global rally in gold, where international prices climbed by $31 per ounce to hit $3,757.
In Pakistan’s local market:
24-karat gold: Rs400,000 per tola
22-karat gold: Rs366,666 per tola
21-karat gold: Rs350,000 per tola
Experts say the sharp increase is due to global political and economic uncertainty, the falling value of the Pakistani rupee, and investors turning to gold as a safe option.
Just a day earlier, the price of 24-karat gold rose by Rs3,400, climbing from Rs390,300 to Rs393,700 per tola. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold jumped by Rs2,915 to Rs337,534.
In the international bullion market, gold had also seen a rise of $34 per ounce on Monday, reaching $3,719 before continuing its upward momentum.
