PSX ends week lower as 100 Index drops 1,672 points

01 November, 2025 14:38

The business week at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended with a decline, as the 100 Index dropped by 1,672 points, closing at 161,631.

Throughout the week, the index moved within a wide range of 7,243 points, hitting a high of 163,570 and a low of 156,327. In total, around 4.77 billion shares were traded, with a total value of Rs195.95 billion.

The market capitalization also fell by Rs252 billion, ending the week at Rs18,561 billion.

According to market analysts, the negative trend was driven by global market instability, geopolitical tensions, and fluctuations in Pakistan’s economic indicators. Investors remained cautious, which led to a decline in foreign investment and increased local selling activity.

The banking and energy sectors were hit the hardest, as rumors of a possible interest rate hike kept the market under pressure. Overall, investor confidence stayed weak, resulting in a quiet and uncertain trading week at the PSX.
