Petroleum prices likely to fall by up to Rs12 per litre from December 16

Petrol prices expected to drop in Pakistan from Dec - check new rates
Petroleum prices in Pakistan are expected to decline from Monday, December 16, bringing relief to consumers for the second half of the month. Reports suggest that fuel prices may drop by up to Rs12 per litre for the pricing cycle ending December 31.
Diesel price expected to see major cut
According to local media, the ex-depot price of high-speed diesel (HSD) is likely to fall by around Rs11.80 per litre. This would be a reduction of more than 4 percent.
If approved, the price of diesel could drop from Rs279.65 per litre to nearly Rs268 per litre. Diesel is widely used in transport and agriculture, so the cut may help control transport costs and food prices.
Petrol price likely to stay unchanged
Petrol prices are expected to remain largely unchanged, as the projected reduction is less than Re1 per litre.
Currently, petrol is priced at Rs263.45 per litre. Petrol is mainly used by motorcycles, rickshaws, and private cars, making it important for middle- and lower-income households.
Possible increase due to margins
Despite the expected price drop, the government is considering adding about Rs1.28 per litre to fuel prices.
This includes:
61 paise per litre increase for oil marketing companies
67 paise per litre increase for fuel dealers
These margin hikes were approved earlier by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).
Kerosene and LDO prices also likely to fall
Other petroleum products are also expected to become cheaper.
Kerosene oil may drop by around Rs11.50 per litre, a decrease of nearly 6 percent
Light diesel oil (LDO) could fall by about Rs10 per litre, also close to 6 percent
At present, kerosene is priced at Rs192.86 per litre, while LDO stands at Rs173.77 per litre.
The final decision on petroleum prices will be announced by the government after reviewing global oil trends and tax adjustments. Any relief will apply from December 16 to December 31.
