PSX sees strong gains, KSE-100 up over 1,600 points

KARACHI: Bullish sentiment returned to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Thursday, with the KSE-100 index rising by 1,646.79 points to close at 171,960.64, a gain of 0.97%.

Buying interest was seen across major sectors, including cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration, OMCs, power generation, and refineries. Leading stocks such as ARL, HUBCO, PSO, SNGPL, SSGC, MARI, MEB, MEBL, and NBP traded in positive territory.

In another development, China’s Shandong Xinxu Group has proposed a multi-billion-euro maritime and industrial project at Port Qasim, marking one of the largest foreign investments in Pakistan in recent years.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee gained slightly against the US dollar, appreciating 0.06% in early interbank trading to reach Rs280.10, up Rs0.17.
