Government introduces loans on easy terms – check details

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has stepped up its efforts to support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across the country.

A three-year roadmap to strengthen the SME sector has been presented to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The Prime Minister has instructed officials to speed up the process of giving loans to business people on easy and affordable terms.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister to review the business plan of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA). During the meeting, a detailed action plan for the next three years was shared.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Haroon Akhtar and the SMEDA board for preparing a practical and realistic plan. He said that SMEs are the backbone of the national economy as they create jobs and have strong potential to boost exports. He added that proper support to this sector can help stabilize the economy.

The Prime Minister assured that the government will remove all hurdles in the way of easy business loans. Relevant institutions have been directed to take quick and effective action.

Officials also informed the meeting that training workshops have been held in six major cities to improve the skills of small business owners. These programs aim to equip them with modern business knowledge.

The meeting also focused on encouraging women’s participation in business. Authorities said special measures are being taken to help women play an active role in the SME sector and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
