12 January, 2026 16:22

Flour prices in Pakistan have seen a sharp increase, putting more financial pressure on ordinary citizens.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, the price of a 20-kilogram bag of flour has risen by Rs40, reaching Rs590 in just one week.

In Islamabad, the price of a 20-kg flour bag is now the highest in the country at Rs2,893.33. The largest increases were recorded in Sargodha (Rs590), followed by Multan (Rs226.66), Khuzdar (Rs200), and Bahawalpur (Rs163.33). Other major cities like Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar, and Lahore saw smaller hikes ranging from Rs40 to Rs140.

In cities such as Hyderabad, Sialkot, and Lahore, prices have increased by Rs80 to Rs100. This surge in wheat and flour prices is adding to Pakistan’s already high inflation, creating further difficulties for consumers.

Current prices for a 20-kg flour bag are:

  • Rawalpindi: Rs2,866.47

  • Karachi: Rs2,600

  • Peshawar: Rs2,850

  • Quetta: Rs2,260

  • Islamabad: Rs2,893

With prices continuing to rise, citizens are growing concerned and are hoping for swift government action to control the situation.
