How to get fresh currency notes from State Bank of Pakistan in Eid ul Fitr 2026
As Eid ul-Fitr 2026 approaches, Pakistanis are getting ready to collect crisp banknotes for Eidi. Every year, finding fresh notes is a big part of the tradition. This year, you can avoid paying extra fees to street sellers by using official channels provided by the State Bank of Pakistan. Here’s a simple guide to get your fresh currency notes safely and easily.
Step 1: Use the 8877 SMS Service
The SBP activates the 8877 SMS code during the second week of Ramadan. To reserve your notes:
Open your SMS app.
Type your CNIC number, a space, and your desired bank branch code.
Send it to 8877.
You will receive a reply with a unique transaction code and the branch address.
Step 2: Visit the Designated Branch
Take your SMS code, original CNIC, and a copy to the assigned bank branch. Bank staff will check your code and give you your quota of fresh notes. Usually, you get one packet each of Rs. 10, 20, and 50 notes.
Step 3: Coordinate with Your Bank Manager
If the SMS service is busy, call your local branch. Most banks have a small stock of fresh notes for their customers. Visiting early in March can help you get priority access.
Step 4: Visit SBP BSC Offices
If you live in major cities like Karachi, Lahore, or Islamabad, you can visit the SBP Bank Services Corporation offices. They have the largest stock of fresh currency notes, available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Step 5: Check High-Traffic ATMs
In the last ten days of Ramadan, many ATMs are filled with crisp Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes. These larger denominations are perfect for Eidi for older family members.
By following these official tips, you can get fresh Eid currency safely without paying extra to street sellers.
