How to Get Fresh Currency Notes for Eid 2026 in Pakistan

09 March, 2026 13:45

In Pakistan, the demand for fresh currency notes increases every year before Eid ul‑Fitr. Many elders buy bundles of new notes to give “Eidi” to children, which is a popular tradition during Eid celebrations.

“Eidi” is a small gift or money given to children after the Eid prayers. Children look forward to receiving Eidi because it adds more joy to the festival. They often use the money to buy sweets, toys, or other small treats.

The State Bank of Pakistan has shared official instructions for people who want to get fresh currency notes for Eid 2026 through banks.

How to Get Fresh Currency Notes from Banks

People can follow these simple steps:

  • Open the SMS app on your mobile phone.

  • Type your 13-digit CNIC number followed by the code of your selected bank branch.

  • Send the SMS to 8877.

  • You will receive a reply message with a transaction code and the branch address.

  • Visit the mentioned bank branch with your original CNIC and a photocopy.

  • The bank staff will verify your transaction code.

  • After verification, you will receive cash packets containing Rs10, Rs20, and Rs50 fresh notes.

There are no extra charges for getting these fresh currency notes from banks.

Fresh Notes Sold in the Open Market

Sometimes people face difficulties getting fresh notes from banks. Because of this, many people buy them from shopkeepers in the open market.

The Rs10 and Rs50 notes are the most popular for giving Eidi to children. Due to high demand, shopkeepers often sell these bundles at higher prices.

  • A Rs10 note bundle worth Rs1,000 is usually sold for around Rs1,200 to Rs1,300.

  • A Rs50 note bundle worth Rs5,000 is sold for about Rs5,500 to Rs6,000 in the market.

Despite the higher prices, many people still buy fresh notes from the market so they can continue the joyful tradition of giving Eidi to children on Eid.
