Punjab Metrobus Fares Increase from March 26, 2026 – New Ticket Rates Announced

CDA denies rumors of Metro Bus Fare increase in Islamabad
LAHORE – March 14, 2026: The Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMTA) has announced a 33% increase in metro bus fares across Punjab. The change will affect commuters in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
Officials confirmed the fare hike will start from March 26, 2026, on all BRT lines, including the Lahore Metrobus. The decision comes as a measure to cover rising operational costs and maintain service quality.
New Metrobus Ticket Prices in Punjab
The updated fares for metro bus travel are as follows:
Red Metrobus Lines (Lahore, Rawalpindi, Multan): Rs40 per trip
Passengers using the Green Transport Card will get a Rs15 discount, paying only Rs25 per trip.
PMTA officials said the fare adjustment is necessary due to higher fuel and maintenance costs. The Green Card discount is designed to provide relief to daily commuters.
Impact on Daily Commuters
The fare increase may slightly raise the daily travel cost for regular passengers. Authorities urge commuters to plan their trips and take advantage of the Green Transport Card discount for cost savings.
Why the Fare Hike Was Needed
According to PMTA, the price adjustment is part of broader efforts to:
Ensure smooth operations of metro bus services
Maintain high service standards
Address rising fuel and operational expenses
Commuters are encouraged to stay updated with official PMTA announcements regarding metro bus schedules and ticketing.
