How motorcycle owners can get Rs100 petrol subsidy – Eligibility guide

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a petrol subsidy of Rs100 per litre for motorcycle owners, covering up to 20 litres per month after the recent price hike to Rs458.40 per litre.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said the subsidy will apply for the next three months. Intercity and freer transport services will also get the same subsidy for one month.
The government also announced other relief measures:
- Small-scale farmers: Rs1,500 one-time diesel subsidy per month
- Goods transport operators: Rs70,000 per month for trucks, Rs80,000 for larger vehicles
- Public service buses: Rs100,000 per month
These measures will be reviewed after one month.
Eligibility Details
- Motorcycles with engine capacity up to 70cc
- Vehicle must be registered in owner’s name
- Owners of heavy motorcycles are not eligible
- BISP data may be used to identify the most vulnerable riders
How to Get the Subsidy
A mobile app will be used to check eligibility. Petrol pumps will also get smartphones to provide the subsidy and maintain records.
Officials noted that the official procedure for availing the subsidy is yet to be announced, so riders currently pay the full petrol price.
