Pakistan’s Total Debt Reaches Rs99.6 Trillion: SBP
KARACHI: Pakistan’s total debt reached Rs99.6 trillion by June 2026, according to the State Bank of Pakistan.
The country’s total debt increased by Rs5.2 trillion during the year. By June 30, 2025, Pakistan’s total debt stood at Rs94.387 trillion.
According to the State Bank, the total debt rose to Rs99.6 trillion by June 2026.
The federal government’s domestic debt reached Rs59.441 trillion, while Pakistan’s external debt stood at Rs36.19 trillion by June 2026.
During the financial year 2026, Pakistan made total debt payments of Rs11.966 trillion. This included Rs4.466 trillion in principal repayments on external debt.
The government also paid Rs7.266 trillion in interest on its debt during FY2026.
In comparison, interest payments stood at Rs9.466 trillion during the financial year 2025.
The figures show that Pakistan’s overall debt continued to increase despite significant payments made toward debt servicing during the year.
