SIFC Helps Resolve Double Taxation Dispute Between Allied Materials and FBR

ISLAMABAD: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has helped resolve a long-running taxation dispute between Allied Materials and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), removing a key hurdle for the company’s business operations in Pakistan.
According to the information available, the dispute involved an issue of double taxation between Allied Materials and government tax authorities and had reached the Sindh High Court in 2024.
To help resolve the matter, SIFC facilitated high-level meetings between Allied Materials, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) and the FBR.
The coordination provided a platform for the stakeholders to address the tax dispute and work toward a mutually acceptable resolution.
The successful resolution is being viewed as an example of SIFC’s role in addressing regulatory and administrative issues faced by businesses and investors.
Allied Materials is a company operating in Pakistan’s construction sector and provides ready-mix concrete, construction materials and related services.
The company had faced the tax dispute with government institutions before the matter was taken up through legal proceedings.
SIFC’s intervention helped bring the relevant stakeholders together to resolve the issue without allowing the dispute to continue as a prolonged obstacle to business activity.
Allied Materials Director Syed Faisal Ali appreciated SIFC’s timely assistance and effective coordination in resolving the matter.
He said the company’s experience with SIFC as a facilitator for business and investment had been positive and encouraging.
“Our experience with SIFC as a facilitator for business and investment has been extremely positive and encouraging,” Faisal Ali said.
He added that SIFC was playing an important role in addressing barriers and resolving issues between businesses and government departments.
The resolution highlights SIFC’s broader role in facilitating communication between private-sector companies and government institutions.
By bringing relevant departments together and helping address administrative and regulatory hurdles, the council aims to improve the business environment and support investment activity in Pakistan.
The resolution of the Allied Materials tax dispute is expected to provide greater clarity for the company while demonstrating how institutional coordination can help resolve business-related challenges.
