SIFC Intervention Helps Chinese Company Resume Dhabeji Factory Operations

KARACHI: Chinese company Hunan Resources SMC (Private) Limited has resumed operations at its industrial facility in Dhabeji, Sindh, after a seven-month closure following intervention by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

The factory had remained closed since February 2026, resulting in significant financial losses and affecting the company’s business and investment commitments.

The company did not disclose the specific nature of the issue that had led to the closure.

Company Appreciates SIFC Support

In a letter to SIFC, Hunan Resources appreciated the council’s intervention and coordination in resolving the matter concerning its industrial facility.

The company said SIFC’s support helped protect its investment and strengthened its confidence in continuing business and investment activities in Pakistan.

Investor Confidence

SIFC said the reopening demonstrated the impact of coordinated investment facilitation in resolving legitimate investor concerns and supporting industrial operations.

The council said it continues to work with investors through a whole-of-government approach aimed at resolving business issues, strengthening investor confidence and creating a more conducive environment for investment and industrial growth.

The resumption of operations at the Dhabeji facility provides another example of efforts to facilitate foreign investment and maintain industrial activity in Pakistan.
