Citizen moves LHC for probe into wheat scandal

A citizen has filed a petition in the Lahore High Court to investigate the wheat scandal, in which the former caretaker prime minister was made a party.

According to GTV, a petition related to the investigation of the wheat scandal by NAB was filed by citizen Mashkoor, in which the former caretaker prime minister, NAB and the federal government were made parties in the petition.

The citizen, in the plea, has taken a stand that 7, 78,000 metric tons of wheat was imported in the first two months of the PML-N government and the committee formed at the government level cannot conduct a transparent investigation. The government itself is a part of the wheat scam so investigation on merit is not possible. An application was submitted with NAB for investigation but no action was taken, it added.

It is requested that NAB be ordered to investigate the wheat mega scandal, the plea said.
