ECP acquits Yousaf Raza Gilani in Senate election video scandal

Islamabad-The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday acquitted Yousaf Raza Gilani, dismissing PTI’s solicitation filed for the disqualification of the PPP leader from the Senate seat.

Publicizing its decision moment, the commission said that no substantiation was plant against Yousaf Raza Gilani.
Still, the ECP directed the District Election Commissioner Islamabad to take action against Ali Haider Gilani, MNA Faheem Khan, and Jamil Ahmad Khan for their involvement in loose practices.
The PTI had filed a solicitation seeking disqualification of PPP Senator-elect Yousuf Raza Gilani last time, asking the electoral body to stop the allocation of the announcement attesting Gilani’s palm on a general seat from Islamabad in the Senate choices.
The solicitation was filed by PTI’s Farrukh Habib, Maleeka Bokhari, and Kanwal Shauzab.
The lawgivers had filed it grounded on a controversial audio clip of Sindh minister Nasir Hussain Shah purportedly logrolling with four PTI lawgivers for their votes in the Senate choices and a videotape of Ali Haider Gilani in which he was allegedly explaining some PTI MNA’s ways to waste their votes.
The PPP assemblyman, in a shocking development, defeated the PTI seeker Hafeez Sheikh, driving a debate in political circles about the cracks in the also ruling coalition which had a maturity in the National Assembly.
Latterly, the also high minister Imran Khan also took a vote of confidence from the assembly to show that he still enjoys the support of the maturity.
