Punjab Boards announce big increase in exam fees for 2026

21 January, 2026 12:36

Punjab education boards have announced a big increase in examination fees. The boards say this decision was taken because they are facing serious financial problems. However, this increase has added extra pressure on students and their families.

According to officials, the boards expect to collect up to Rs. 15 billion through the new fee structure.

New Charges Added by Punjab Boards

The education boards have added several new charges to the exam fees. One major addition is a CCTV fee, which will be used for installing cameras at examination centres. A miscellaneous fee has also been added.

The certificate fee has been increased sharply, rising from Rs. 550 to Rs. 1,000.

Because of these changes, the total fee for FA and FSc annual exams has gone up a lot. Now, private candidates will have to pay Rs. 7,730, while regular students will pay Rs. 7,570.

Revised Fee Details for Intermediate Exams 2026

For the intermediate annual exams starting from May 20, 2026, the boards shared a detailed fee list. This includes admission, registration, processing, certificate, development, postal, scholarship, and CCTV charges.

The boards have also set different admission fees based on study streams. Regular arts students will pay Rs. 1,700, while regular science students will pay Rs. 1,740. Private arts students will pay Rs. 1,800, and private science students will pay Rs. 1,900.

Private Schools Strongly Oppose the Fee Increase

The All Pakistan Private Schools Associations have strongly rejected the new fees. Leaders like Abrar Ahmed Khan, Irfan Muzaffar Kiani, and Malik Naseem Ahmed criticised the decision.

They said that most examination centres already have CCTV cameras, so charging students again is unfair. They also called the Rs. 900 miscellaneous fee unjustified and said the increase in certificate and processing fees is too high.

The associations have demanded that the government review the decision and reduce the burden on students.
