09 April, 2024 20:42

The Shawwal crescent moon not sighted in India hence Eid-ul-Fitar celebrations will be held in the country on April 11.

The crescent moon was not spotted in major cities like Delhi, Hyderabad, and Lucknow, Indian media reported on Tuesday.

Only a few cities have confirmed the sighting of the crescent moon today.

Experts speculate that the moon sighting might be impacted by the total solar eclipse. Reports claim that the crescent moon might not be seen shortly after the eclipse – therefore, delaying the moon sighting until April 9, 2024.

The festival will be celebrated a day after the sighting of the crescent moon. Eid al-Fitr or Ramadan Eid marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan.
