Zakir Hussain: India’s legendary tabla player dies at 73 in US

World-renowned Indian tabla player Zakir Hussain passed away.
According to Indian media, Zakir Hussain was being treated at the intensive care unit of a hospital in San Francisco, US, due to a heart problem, where he passed away.
The legendary tabla player was 73 years old .He was the son of the legendary tabla player Ustad Allah Rakha.
Zakir Husain was one of the famous classical musicians of India who also performed internationally.
The government of India awarded Ustad Zakir Hussain with Padma Shri in 1988, Padma Bhushan in 2002 and Padma V Bhushan in 2023 in recognition of his services to art.
Apart from this, he has also received many international awards including 5 Grammy Awards. He received 3 of the Grammy Awards this year.
