Halle Berry breaks silence on 'Avengers Doomsday' snub
Halle Berry, the iconic actress behind X-Men‘s Storm, has finally responded to her noticeable omission from the star-studded cast of Avengers: Doomsday—and she’s doing it with a laugh.
When asked by Screen Rant about her absence, Berry quipped, “Keep waiting! [Not] gonna be there! [laughs] It’s not gonna be there.” Her playful dismissal hides a lingering frustration: despite her pivotal role as the weather-wielding mutant, Berry’s Storm has been repeatedly sidelined in recent Marvel projects.
A Pattern of Exclusion
This isn’t the first time Berry’s been left out of the mutant reunion. Her X-Men co-stars, including Hugh Jackman (Wolverine) and Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), have seamlessly transitioned into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), with Reynolds even orchestrating a multiverse-spanning cameo fest in Deadpool & Wolverine. Berry revealed that Reynolds’ wife, Blake Lively, once floated the idea of her reprising Storm for the film. “She asked, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm?’ I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’” Berry shared with Comic Book. “But he never asked.”
Storm’s Unfinished Legacy
Berry last wielded Storm’s powers in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, a role she’s long championed—despite famously calling the character’s early scripts “a disgrace” due to underwritten scenes. Fans have clamored for her return, especially as Marvel integrates the X-Men into the MCU. Instead, Avengers: Doomsday is stacking its roster with fresh faces (Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing) and established heroes (Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi).
