Teddi Mellencamp reveals father’s valuable advice amid her cancer battle

Teddi Mellencamp, who appears on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, has discussed her relationship with John Mellencamp, her father and musician, as she continues to fight against stage 4 cancer.

In an interview with Us Weekly on April 2, 2025, Teddi discussed her estranged husband Edwin Arroyave’s communication with her father regarding her emergency brain tumor surgery in February.

Her father, John Mellencamp, remained in Los Angeles for 18 days while Teddi healed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Teddi remeberd that her father, who had a health scare of his own years before, offered important advice during her ordeal. She recalled him saying, “There will be times when you don’t have control over your emotions due to the medication or treatment. You have to give yourself grace, knowing it is not always you, and that’s ok.” While she sometimes felt her emotions was too much to handle, Teddi said her father calls her every day to check-in, even though she sometimes needs space.

In an update shared on Instagram, Teddi revealed that, just days after her interview, she was diagnosed with four more brain tumors, adding to the two in her lungs. Despite feeling both strong and sad at times, she remains hopeful and continues to share her journey with fans, reminding them that stage 4 cancer is challenging, but it’s okay to feel a range of emotions.
