Is Ryan Gosling All Set to Star in Upcoming Star Wars Film?

After his scene-stealing role as Ken in the 2023 hit Barbie, Ryan Gosling is diving into another massive franchise: Star Wars. The Oscar-nominated actor will star in Star Wars: Starfighter, set to release in May 2027, as announced by Lucasfilm at the Star Wars Celebration in Japan.

Directed by Shawn Levy, known for Deadpool & Wolverine and Stranger Things, the film will take place five years after Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker. Gosling and Levy surprised fans with an appearance at the event to confirm the project, which will begin production later this year.

The film promises a fresh adventure with new characters, set in an unexplored period of the Star Wars universe. Gosling, sporting a hat that read “Never Tell Me The Odds,” shared, “I think it’s just exactly the advice that we need as we embark on this journey.” He also noted, “The Force is a mysterious thing. But I think as I’m here, I feel like the Force is the fans… may the fans be with us.”

Levy acknowledged the pressure of joining such a beloved franchise: “You’re scared, you’re nervous, you want to get it right.” He added, “But we have a feeling that with this story, with this collaboration, we can get it right.”

The film will follow The Mandalorian & Grogu, slated for release in 2026, with other Star Wars films from Taika Waititi, James Mangold, and Simon Kinberg in the works.
