Deaf Actress Tasha Ghouri removes cochlear implant, Embraces silence after split from Andrew Le Page

24 April, 2025 16:30

Tasha Ghouri has opened up about finding peace in “pure silence” as she temporarily removed her cochlear implant to recharge after feeling drained from lip-reading and social interactions. The Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing star, who was born deaf and received her implant at age five, shared her thoughts in a heartfelt Instagram post.

“Right now as I’m typing this, my cochlear implant is out and I’m enjoying the pure silence,” she wrote. “The lip reading, the concentration of listening… I’m exhausted by the end of the day.”

Tasha Ghouri, 26, reminded her followers that it’s okay to feel overwhelmed and take time to reset. “Sometimes I forget I’m only just a 26-year-old girl trying to figure out her life… To anyone out there figuring it all out, you’ve got this and you’re enough.”

Her emotional message comes shortly after her split from boyfriend Andrew Le Page. The couple, who met on Love Island in 2022, were together for over two years and shared a dog, Luna. “We didn’t end badly at all,” she said, explaining they still co-parent their pet and remain in touch.

Tasha also addressed criticism after briefly creating a dating profile post-breakup. “I made a silly mistake,” she admitted. “It was way too soon… I’ve learned from that.”

Now focused on herself and her career, Tasha has no plans to date anytime soon. “Break-ups happen. Just because ours was public doesn’t make it any different.”
