Drama Serial ‘Dayan’ Faces Criticism for Giving Off ‘Star Plus Vibes’

The drama serial Dayan, written by Fatima Faizan and Amber Azhar and directed by Tere Bin’s Siraj Ul Haq, is drawing criticism from viewers who feel it closely mirrors Indian soap operas, particularly those from Star Plus.

Fans are calling out the show for its heavy use of sarees and exaggerated sequences. One viewer commented, “It’s not our traditional dress—please promote shalwar kameez instead.” Another echoed this sentiment, saying, “Indian-style sarees and a pathetic drama.”

Critics have also pointed to the pacing and tone of the series. “This drama has too many slow-motion sequences and has been unnecessarily dragged like Star Plus shows,” a fan remarked. Some felt the casting wasn’t right either, with one user stating, “Mehwish Hayat doesn’t look appropriate in this role; they should have cast someone else.”

   

The visuals of drama serial Dayan didn’t escape backlash either. A viewer noted, “Hira Mani looks like an overdone Christmas tree in this drama, and this role doesn’t suit her.” Scenes set in bedrooms and hospitals have also been singled out as overly dramatic.
