Benny Blanco opens up about his ‘biggest’ argument with Selena Gomez

03 May, 2025 19:23

Benny Blanco recently opened up about a funny disagreement he had with his fiancée, Selena Gomez. The couple, who got engaged in December 2024 and released a joint album titled “I Said I Love You First,” have been making headlines ever since.

In an interview on Nova’s Ricki-Lee, Tim and Joel, Blanco talked about what it’s like working creatively with Gomez. When host Ricki-Lee Coulter asked how they handle the stress of working together, Blanco responded, “Honestly she’s so easy.”

He added that from the beginning of making the album, they agreed that if anything felt off, they’d stop—and luckily, it never did.

Blanco then shared the funniest argument they had—about birds. He said, “The biggest thing we got in was about birds.” While recording at home in a guest bedroom, Selena kept getting distracted by birds chirping outside the window.”

“For some reason there was a nest of birds that were right outside the window where she was recording,” he said, explaining that he couldn’t hear them because the birds went quiet whenever he entered the room.

Selena grew frustrated that he didn’t believe her, but Blanco admitted, “It was frustrating so much.” Eventually, the mic picked up the chirping, and he finally heard it.

That moment made him realize how strong their bond is. “It made me realise, ‘oh shoot, we’re really meant for each other,’ because we’re not the arguing type. We’re not like yellers, we just kind of talk everything out. We have really good communication skills,” Blanco concluded.
