Shafaat Ali Trolls ‘Operation Sindoor’ Amid India-Pakistan Escalation

07 May, 2025 15:57

In response to India’s midnight missile and drone strikes on Pakistani territory, renowned Pakistani comedian, actor, and TV host Shafaat Ali delivered a sharp and satirical reaction by impersonating Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Between midnight and 1 AM on the night of May 6–7, India launched 24 coordinated strikes across six Pakistani locations, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli. Dubbed “Operation Sindoor”, the attacks targeted civilian areas, leading to the martyrdom of eight Pakistani civilians, including a child, and injuring at least 35 others.

In a swift and decisive response, Pakistan’s armed forces shot down five Indian fighter jets and destroyed a brigade headquarters, demonstrating military readiness and resolve.

Soon after, Shafaat Ali, celebrated for his uncanny political impressions, posted a viral satirical video on X (formerly Twitter). Mimicking PM Modi’s voice and speech pattern, Ali joked, “Last night, our Air Force requested permission and received the code word ‘Sindoor’ — a historic move that will surely win us the Bihar elections.”

Mocking the operation’s failure, he added, “Our Air Force reached Pakistan, and in return for ‘Sindoor,’ they were served a full Walima. What more can I say about our Rafales and MiGs?”

He concluded with mock admiration, in Modi’s voice, stating, “From the Indian Army and the world’s largest democracy, we want to say to Pakistan — General Asim Munir, you are my jaan (life), my soul.”

The video rapidly gained traction across Pakistani social media, drawing applause and laughter, and reflecting the public’s mood of unity and resilience.

These latest hostilities stem from an attack in Pahalgam, Indian-occupied Kashmir, on April 22, which killed 26 people. India, without presenting evidence, blamed Pakistan, suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, and adopted aggressive military and diplomatic measures.

Pakistan vehemently denied the allegations and condemned the treaty’s suspension. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif had earlier warned that India might resort to irrational military aggression — a prediction that materialized with Operation Sindoor.

As the situation intensifies, voices like Shafaat Ali’s stand out not only for their humor but for echoing a broader national sentiment of defiance, satire, and solidarity.
