Anwar Maqsood Highlights Army's Role in Difficult Times
Legendary Pakistani writer and satirist Anwar Maqsood has voiced a powerful message of unity and peace as tensions rise between Pakistan and India. Reflecting on the current situation, he remarked, “It is during difficult times that we understand the true value of our army. Today, 250 million Pakistanis have become soldiers.”
Addressing the growing conflict, Maqsood stated, “I may not have weapons, but my pen is my strength. I will do whatever I can with it for the sake of this nation.”
He also spoke passionately about the respect he holds for the national flag, saying, “I hold my flag in as high regard as any Indian holds theirs.” While commenting on reports of Indian aircraft being shot down, he expressed sorrow over the lives lost. “While many might feel pride over such news, I am deeply saddened by the deaths of innocent Pakistanis,” he shared.
Warning against the dangers of war, Maqsood said, “Starting a war is easy — it can be triggered by the smallest incident — but ending it is extremely difficult. Let us pray that the situation does not worsen.”
Commenting on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he stated, “Modi was elected by the people — that’s a reality. But perhaps this tragedy will bring him some wisdom and make him realize the injustices faced by Muslims.”
He concluded with a call for unity: “The times have changed. Modi must understand that no one wants war anymore. People want progress. And for that to happen, we Pakistanis must stand united with our government and armed forces.”
