Mahira, Fawad & Atif Aslam Face Quiet Removal from Bollywood Posters After Mawra Hocane

13 May, 2025 15:00

Following Pakistan’s victory over India in a recent conflict, several Pakistani celebrities who had previously worked in Bollywood are now facing backlash on digital platforms. Among them are Mahira Khan, Fawad Khan, Atif Aslam, and Mawra Hocane who made a mark in Bollywood with their talent and skills.

Mahira Khan, who starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Raees, has been quietly removed from the promotional material. Her presence is no longer visible on the cover of the hit song Zaalima on YouTube. Where the film’s album once featured both Mahira and Shah Rukh, it now shows Shah Rukh Khan alone.

Fawad Khan is facing a similar situation. The song Buddhu Sa Mann from Kapoor & Sons, in which he appeared alongside Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt, is no longer accessible on YouTube in India. Viewers now see a message saying the video isn’t available in their region. This track was uploaded by Sony Music India. Additionally, Fawad’s image has been scrubbed from song posters across several music apps.

Actress Mawra Hocane, too, has seen her Bollywood presence fade, while renowned singer Atif Aslam has been removed from the credits of songs he originally performed—especially on Zee Music’s YouTube channel.

These quiet removals reflect a growing digital erasure of Pakistani talent from the Indian entertainment landscape, especially after political tensions resurface.
