Tahseen Sakina Faces Backlash for Touching Abida Parveen’s Feet in Viral Video
Rising Sufi vocalist Tahseen Sakina is currently embroiled in an online controversy after footage of a meeting between her and iconic Sufi icon Abida Parveen surfaced on the internet.
The video showed Tahseen begging Abida Parveen to allow him to touch her feet just “once,” as he would humbly request permission to touch it. When permitted, she bends down to touch Abida’s feet, receiving warm embraces with prayers and blessings from the Sufi legend, who added, “Stay happy.”
While some appreciated the very affectionate exchange, multiple users on social media condemned the whole act as “inappropriate” in a religious context. Said one user: ‘Bowing is only for Allah; bowing before a person falls under shirk. Another posted: ‘There is no doubt that Abida Parveen is a great artist but the act of touching feet is not acceptable at any cost.’
Sophisticated and soulful rendition of “Jane,” “Dhola,” and “Sakhi Lalan Sarkar” are among Tahseen Sakina’s relatively well-received Sufi compositions, which have earned her the title ‘Junior Abida Parveen.’
Earlier, a photo of Abida Parveen with actress Maya Ali surfaced while on visit to Qatar, it brought her health to the hot plate of topics, with fans and her family being worried to see her in a wheelchair. The clarification by her team on her Instagram account informed everyone of the details that there was a long walking stretch at the National Museum in Doha, so the wheelchair was used, thus putting to rest the fans’ worries, saying the legendary singer is doing well.
