Controversial Musician Hasan Iqbal Chishti’s Arrest Receives Public Appreciation

Hasan Iqbal Chishti, a controversial figure known for his provocative songs, has been arrested following widespread criticism. His song, Dance Kardi Payi Ae, which sparked outrage for promoting anti-girls’ education views, went viral for all the wrong reasons.

The music video suggested that girls’ education should be stopped, which alarmed the public, especially as Pakistan already struggles with a large number of children, particularly girls, still out of school.

The song was widely condemned for fueling harmful sentiments about women’s education. The Punjab Commission on Status of Women filed an official complaint against Chishti last year, leading to an investigation by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). As a result, Chishti’s content was removed from his channel, and he was arrested.

In response to his arrest, a cleric named Fazal Ahmed Chishti led a protest at the police station, demanding the release of Hasan Iqbal Chishti. He also threatened to file a blasphemy complaint against the police.

However, the public largely supported the arrest. One user expressed satisfaction, saying, “Now dance in jail.” Another commented, “Now his software will be updated.” A third added, “I was commenting that he should be arrested and finally it happened.” The decision to arrest Chishti was hailed by many as a much-needed action against spreading hate and harmful ideologies.
