Rahul Dev Issues FIRST Statement After Brother Mukul Dev’s Death
Actor Mukul Dev passed away on the night of May 23 at the age of 54 in Delhi after a brief illness. His brother, actor Rahul Dev, issued a heartfelt statement on Instagram, confirming the news and sharing details of the cremation.
Rahul Dev wrote, “Our brother Mukul Dev passed away peacefully at New Delhi last night. He is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev, and missed dearly by siblings Rashmi Kaushal, Rahul Dev, and nephew Sidhant Dev. Please join us for cremation at 5 PM.”
While the exact cause of death was not revealed, sources close to the family shared that Mukul had been unwell for the past few days. He was hospitalized for 8 to 10 days, and his health worsened on Friday night.
The last rites of Mukul Dev were held in Delhi on Saturday evening. Family members, friends, and colleagues from the film and television industry paid their respects.
Mukul Dev began his acting journey with the television serial Mumkin in 1996, where he played the role of Vijay Pandey. Born into a Punjabi family in New Delhi, Mukul quickly became a familiar face on Indian television and later in Bollywood films.
He starred in several popular TV shows, including Gharwali Uparwali, Kasshish, Ssshhhh…Phir Koi Hai, and Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan. In Bollywood, he was best known for his roles in films like Yamla Pagla Deewana, Son of Sardaar, R… Rajkumar, and Jai Ho.
Mukul also acted in a range of regional films, including Bengali, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu movies, proving his versatility across languages and genres.
Outside of acting, Mukul held a certificate in aeronautics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Aviation in Raebareli. His first earnings reportedly came from a school dance tribute to Michael Jackson, performed for a Doordarshan program.
Fans were looking forward to seeing him on the big screen again, as he was set to return in Son Of Sardaar 2, starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur. The sequel, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, comes nearly 12 years after the original film.
The entertainment industry has lost a talented actor and a humble human being. Condolences and tributes continue to pour in across social media.
