Late Wednesday night, Asim Azhar took to Instagram to share a heartfelt note on his story, confirming their mutual decision to part ways.

“After a great deal of thought and reflection, Merub and I have chosen to move forward on separate paths peacefully and mutually,” he wrote.

“While we shared meaningful moments and genuinely hoped for a future together, life sometimes takes its own course.”

In the message, Asim also stressed that their families would continue to maintain respectful relations despite the breakup.

“We have the utmost respect for each other and the families involved and always will,” he stated.

“We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy during this time, and hope this is met with same grace with which it is being shared.”

Following the announcement, both Asim and Merub unfollowed each other on Instagram, signaling the end of their public interactions.

The couple got engaged in March 2022 after years of speculation about their relationship. They were frequently seen attending events together, with their photos making rounds on social media.

In a lighter moment last year, Asim was asked about his wedding plans during a comedy show. He responded:

“Please pray that our parents give us good news soon,” he said, noting that while no date had been set, both families had given their blessings.

Before his engagement to Merub, Asim’s close bond with actress Hania Aamir was the subject of much fan attention. Their rumored breakup in 2020 also garnered significant media coverage and led to online backlash for both stars.
