Pakistani cinema is celebrating a major win as Love Guru, a romantic comedy produced by Humayun Saeed and Salman Iqbal, continues to dominate the box office both at home and abroad. In just two weeks, Love Guru has amassed an impressive worldwide gross of approximately PKR 55 crores, making waves domestically and internationally, particularly in the United Kingdom.
According to a recent report by Diva Magazine, Love Guru surpassed the Bollywood blockbuster Housefull 5, led by Akshay Kumar, at the UK box office in its second weekend. The Pakistani film earned £75,000 compared to Housefull 5’s £56,000 during the same period. In just nine days, Love Guru has raked in a total of £266,000 in the UK, which translates to over PKR 10 crore.
Social media platforms are buzzing with praise for the film. One viewer tweeted, “Just watched Love Guru a couple of days ago and honestly, it is worth watching.” Another fan shared, “Love Guru is an excellent movie. I loved it.” Many praised the movie for being wholesome and family-friendly, especially in contrast to the increasingly bold content found in some Bollywood releases.
However, not everyone is convinced. Some critics on social media questioned the comparison, with one user saying, “It’s unfair to compare a Pakistani film to an Akshay Kumar release — the man does 24 films a year!” Another skeptic commented, “We are not fools. Sorry, a Lollywood film cannot beat a Bollywood one.” Despite this, supporters were quick to clap back, noting that Bollywood is no longer the cultural force it once was, and Pakistani films are finally claiming their space.
Directed by Nadeem Baig and written by the ever-popular Vasay Chaudhary, the film boasts a star-studded cast featuring Ahmed Ali Butt, Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Ramsha Khan, Javed Sheikh, Mani Liaquat, and Ainie Zaidi.
With strong performances, a talented team, and growing global appeal, Love Guru appears to be setting a new standard for Pakistani cinema — one that’s earning both respect and revenue.
