Kanta Laga Star Shefali Jariwala Passes Away at 42 - Cause of Death
MUMBAI – Popular actress and model Shefali Jariwala, known for her breakout role in the 2002 music video “Kaanta Laga”, has passed away at the age of 42. Her sudden death occurred late on Friday, June 27, reportedly due to a cardiac arrest, according to multiple Indian media outlets and Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Mumbai.
Shefali was brought to the hospital by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others, but hospital staff confirmed she was declared dead on arrival.
What Happened?
Mumbai Police confirmed that Shefali was found unresponsive at her residence in Andheri, Mumbai. Her body was later taken to Cooper Hospital for a postmortem to determine the official cause of death.
A hospital official told Times of India, “She had already passed away before being brought in. Her husband and others accompanied the body.”
Journalist Vickey Lalwani also reported that Shefali was brought to Bellevue Hospital, opposite Star Bazaar in Andheri, about 45 minutes before his social media post confirming her death.
A Glance at Her Career
Shefali Jariwala rose to fame in the early 2000s with her iconic appearance in the music video “Kaanta Laga”, earning her the nickname “Kaanta Laga Girl”.
Her fame extended to Bollywood, where she appeared in the 2004 film Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, sharing the screen with Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Priyanka Chopra.

Personal Life
Shefali was previously married to Harmeet Singh, part of the Meet Bros musical duo, from 2004 to 2009. She later married actor Parag Tyagi in 2015, and the two were often seen together at events and on-screen dance shows.
She had also made headlines for her past relationship with late actor Sidharth Shukla, a fellow Bigg Boss 13 contestant who passed away in 2021.

Tehseen Poonawalla, who appeared alongside Shefali in Bigg Boss 13, wrote: “Absolutely stunned to hear my friend Shefali Jariwala is no more… Incredible how Sidharth Shukla and now she, from my season, are no more.”
