Legendary musician Paul Simon, known for decades of iconic music, recently had back surgery after canceling two concerts due to severe back pain. At 83, Simon has been on his A Quiet Celebration tour but had to pause his schedule following growing health concerns.

Why Paul Simon Canceled His Shows

Simon postponed performances in Philadelphia that were originally set for June 27 and 28, after his chronic pain worsened. On July 3, an official statement confirmed he had minor back surgery to relieve “excruciating back pain.”

The statement, posted to his official Instagram, said the operation went well due to “a great team of doctors.” It also mentioned that Simon would need “one additional day of rest and recuperation” before getting back on stage.

Rescheduled Concert Date Announced

Paul Simon was originally expected to perform at The Terrace Theater in Long Beach, California, on July 7, but the concert has now been moved to Tuesday, July 8. Organizers reassured fans that “all original tickets will be valid” for the rescheduled date and that refunds will be offered to those unable to attend.

Looking Ahead

Simon’s team shared, “We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but Paul is looking forward to seeing everyone in Long Beach on Tuesday.” His unexpected cancellation in Philadelphia on June 28 had left fans concerned, but the latest update brings optimism.
