Is Asha Bhosle Dead? Son of Veteran Singer Breaks Silence

Since July 1, rumours about the death of legendary singer Asha Bhosle have been spreading, leaving fans across the nation stunned. The speculation gained traction after a photo of Asha Bhosle adorned with a garland went viral on Facebook. However, there had been no official statement from her family or team—until now. Her son, Anand Bhosle, has addressed the matter and firmly dismissed the claims, stating that “this news is false.”

The false news appeared when a Facebook user named Shabana Shaikh posted a garlanded image of Asha Bhosle with the caption, “Famous singer Asha Bhosle passes away, end of a musical era (01 July 2025).” The post was later deleted, but not before it caused widespread confusion and concern among her admirers.

What is the Reality?

In reality, Asha Bhosle has been seen in good health recently. Just last month, she took part in an event celebrating the re-release of the 1981 film Umrao Jaan. A video from the occasion showed her singing the iconic song “Dil Cheez Kya Hai” live on stage. She was joined by director Muzaffar Ali and actress Rekha, who were also part of the film’s original team.

Regarded as one of the most iconic voices in Hindi cinema, Asha Bhosle’s career spans over eight decades, during which she has performed thousands of songs in multiple Indian languages. She has been honoured with numerous accolades, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.

On the personal front, Asha Bhosle married renowned music composer RD Burman in 1980. Speaking about him in a PTI interview, she once said, “His music was his inspiration. He used to do something new with it. He would tell me to do something different, like change my voice. And he has given me a lot of inspiration. I have learnt a lot from him. He used to help me with those songs.”
